about

["The Ghosts In Rita's Room" is the first release of the RuhmFunk Resource Tapes]

This is the story of Rita, a lovable older woman who suffered from dementia in the last few years of her life and to whom her music meant everything.

Rita used to like to dance. Music from the twenties of the last century often drifted into the hallway from her room. She then sat very pensively in front of her little dresser and stared at the turntable spinning in front of her. A smile loosened the face, which otherwise had rather stern features.
A few weeks later the music seemed to have disappeared from Rita's life and her armchair was now turned towards the window. Only her hand on the armrest seemed to be conducting now and then to the beat of a remembered melody.
The sisters said she was bitter since the music stopped playing, and yet Rita reacts aggressively when the sisters want to put on a record for her. As if she had finally finished with the chapter. She now also told everyone that she often had visitors and that she was so happy to have a large family. In reality, however, in the end she had no one left.

A few days before Rita left us, she was sitting in a wheelchair right in the door of her room and staring out into the hallway. If you spoke to her and asked how she was doing, she said with a smile: “Good. I have my music in me and that's enough, I think."
